Current in a Spin-orbit-coupling System
Yi Li, Ruibao Tao

TL;DR
This paper investigates the formulas for particle, spin, and angular momentum currents in various spin-orbit coupling systems, revealing that conventional expressions are incomplete for some models and identifying necessary additional terms.
Contribution
It provides corrected and complete current formulas for Dresselhaus and Rashba systems, highlighting the need for extra terms in certain SOC models.
Findings
Extra terms are needed for particle current in Dresselhaus systems.
No extra terms are required for Rashba and Luttinger models.
Additional angular momentum current terms appear in Rashba systems.
Abstract
The formulae of particle current as well as spin- and angular momentum currents are studied for most spin-orbit coupling (SOC) systems. It is shown that the conventional expression of currents in some literatures are not complete for some SOC systems. The particle current in Dresselhaus system must have extra terms in additional to the conventional one, but no extra term for Rashba, Luttinger model. Further more, we also prove that the extra terms of total angular momentum appear in Rashba current in addition to conventional one.
