TL;DR
This study constructs the magnetic phase diagram of copper metaborate CuB_2O_4 in a magnetic field parallel to the c-axis, revealing a transition driven by copper ion saturation in strong fields.
Contribution
It provides the first detailed phase diagram of CuB_2O_4 using resonant, magnetic, and magnetostrictive measurements under a magnetic field parallel to the c-axis.
Findings
Identified the incommensurate-commensurate phase transition.
Linked the transition to saturation of copper ion subsystem.
Mapped the phase diagram in temperature and magnetic field.
Abstract
The magnetic phase diagram in a single crystal of copper metaborate CuB_2O_4 in a magnetic field parallel to a tetragonal axis has been investigated. From the resonant, magnetic and magnetostrictive data the phase diagram of CuB_2O_4 on a plane ``temperature - magnetic field'' is constructed. The magnetic incommensurate-commensurate phase transition is caused by the saturation of weak subsystem of copper ions in the strong magnetic field .
