Aharonov-Carmi effect and energy shift of valency electrons in rotating C_{60} molecules
Jian Qi Shen & Shao Long He

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates that valency electrons in rapidly rotating C60 molecules experience an Aharonov-Carmi phase shift, leading to an energy shift proportional to the molecular angular velocity flux, revealing quantum effects in molecular rotation.
Contribution
It introduces the concept of Aharonov-Carmi phase shift in rotating molecules and calculates the resulting energy shift of valency electrons, a novel quantum effect in molecular physics.
Findings
Valency electrons acquire an Aharonov-Carmi phase shift due to molecular rotation.
The energy shift is proportional to the angular velocity flux.
Quantum phase effects influence electron energies in rotating molecules.
Abstract
It is shown that the valency electrons in rapidly rotating C_{60} molecules acquire an Aharonov-Carmi (A-C) phase shift, which is proportional to the molecular angular velocity flux enclosed by the matter wave of valency electrons on the C_{60} molecular shell. The energy shift of the valency electrons due to both the molecular rapid rotation and the molecular A-C phase shift is calculated.
