E. M. Chudnovsky, D. A. Garanin

TL;DR
This paper introduces the concept of phonon superradiance and phonon laser effects in nanomagnets, highlighting how coherent phonon generation by magnetic centers significantly enhances spin-phonon interactions in nanoscale systems.
Contribution
It presents a new theoretical framework for understanding phonon superradiance and laser effects in nanomagnets, emphasizing the importance of coherence in spin-phonon processes.
Findings
Coherent phonon generation enhances spin-phonon rates.
Phonon superradiance can occur in nanoscale paramagnets.
Potential for phonon laser applications in nanomagnet systems.
Abstract
We show that the theory of spin-phonon processes in paramagnetic solids must take into account the coherent generation of phonons by the magnetic centers. This effect should drastically enhance spin-phonon rates in nanoscale paramagnets and in crystals of molecular nanomagnets.
