Microscopic Derivation of Magnetic Coupling in Ca3Co2O6
C. Laschinger, T. Kopp, V. Eyert, and R. Fr\'esard

TL;DR
This paper derives the magnetic coupling between cobalt atoms in Ca3Co2O6, showing it is weakly ferromagnetic, aligning with experimental observations, through a microscopic theoretical approach.
Contribution
It provides a microscopic derivation of the magnetic exchange coupling in Ca3Co2O6, clarifying the nature of the ferromagnetic interaction.
Findings
Coupling is weakly ferromagnetic.
Theoretical results match experimental data.
Provides microscopic insight into magnetic interactions.
Abstract
For cobalt atoms placed along chain structures in Ca3Co2O6, we investigate the spin exchange coupling between atoms in high spin states. Consistent with experimental findings, the coupling is weakly ferromagnetic.
