Modeling Dynamics of Information Networks
Martin Rosvall, Kim Sneppen

TL;DR
This paper introduces an information-based model for network dynamics that explains the emergence of hierarchical, scale-free networks with dynamic hubs due to imperfect information and minimal connectivity.
Contribution
It presents a novel model linking imperfect information to hierarchical and scale-free network structures with dynamic hubs.
Findings
Networks exhibit hierarchical features and wide degree distributions.
Scale-free networks emerge under minimal connectivity conditions.
Hubs remain dynamic, contributing to network evolution.
Abstract
We propose an information-based model for network dynamics in which imperfect information leads to networks where the different vertices have widely different number of edges to other vertices, and where the topology has hierarchical features. The possibility to observe scale free networks is linked to a minimally connected system where hubs remain dynamic.
