T. Nakajima, Y. Ueda

TL;DR
This study compares the structures and electromagnetic properties of ordered and disordered A-site manganites, revealing dominant magnetic glassy states and steplike magnetization behaviors in disordered samples.
Contribution
It provides new insights into the structural and magnetic differences between ordered and disordered manganites, especially highlighting the magnetic glassy states in disordered forms.
Findings
Disordered R0.5Ba0.5MnO3 has a primitive cubic perovskite structure.
Magnetic glassy states dominate in R0.5Ba0.5MnO3.
Steplike ultrasharp magnetization and resistivity changes observed in Pr0.5Ba0.5MnO3.
Abstract
The discovery of novel structural and physical properties in the -site ordered manganite BaMnO ( = Y and rare earth elements) has demanded new comprehension about perovskite manganese oxides. In the present study, the -site disordered form BaMnO was successfully synthesized and compared with BaMnO in the structures and electromagnetic properties. BaMnO has a primitive cubic perovskite cell. Unexpectedly the magnetic glassy states are dominant as the ground state for BaMnO. A peculiar behavior, the steplike ultrasharp magnetization and resistivity change, has been observed in PrBaMnO.
