Pulse Dynamics in a Chain of Granules With Friction
Alexandre Rosas, Katja Lindenberg

TL;DR
This paper investigates pulse propagation in granular chains with friction, providing theoretical models for different geometries and validating them through numerical simulations.
Contribution
It introduces theoretical descriptions for pulse dynamics in frictional granular chains with various geometries, supported by numerical validation.
Findings
Theories accurately predict pulse behavior in cylindrical and spherical granules.
Numerical simulations confirm the validity of the theoretical models.
Different geometries exhibit distinct pulse dynamics.
Abstract
We study the dynamics of a pulse in a chain of granules with friction. We present theories for chains of cylindrical granules (Hertz potential with exponent ) and of granules with other geometries (). Our results are supported via numerical simulations for cylindrical and for spherical granules ().
