Analysis and modeling of science collaboration networks
Felix Putsch

TL;DR
This paper analyzes a science collaboration network and introduces a new model for simulating small-world networks that closely match real-world data.
Contribution
It provides a novel model for simulating discontiguous small-world networks based on empirical science collaboration data.
Findings
Model accurately reproduces empirical network properties
Simulation results align with observed collaboration patterns
Enhances understanding of scientific collaboration structures
Abstract
We analyze a science collaboration network, i.e. a network whose nodes are scientists with edges connecting them for each paper published together. Furthermore we develop a model for the simulation of discontiguous small-world networks that shows good coherence with the empirical data.
