I. A. Sergienko, S. H. Curnoe

TL;DR
This paper investigates the relationship between structural phase transitions and itinerant electron magnetism in Cd2Re2O7, using Landau theory and tight-binding calculations to understand magnetic susceptibility behavior at low temperatures.
Contribution
It introduces a Landau theory framework combined with tight-binding calculations to explain the coupling between structural order parameters and magnetism in Cd2Re2O7.
Findings
Low temperature magnetic susceptibility behavior explained by structural phase transition theory.
Calculated zero temperature Pauli susceptibility reveals coupling mechanism.
Provides insight into itinerant magnetism in pyrochlore oxides.
Abstract
We describe the low temperature behaviour of the magnetic susceptibility of Cd2Re2O7 in terms of a Landau theory of structural phase transitions. We calculate the zero temperature Pauli susceptibility using a tight-binding approach to reveal the mechanism of coupling between the structural order parameter and itinerant magnetism.
