F. Gerbier, S. Richard, J. H. Thywissen, M. Hugbart, P. Bouyer, A., Aspect

TL;DR
This paper measures the momentum distribution of an elongated Bose-Einstein condensate and observes broadening with temperature, providing evidence for phase fluctuations in the sample.
Contribution
It presents the first direct measurement of phase fluctuations in an elongated Bose-Einstein condensate through momentum distribution analysis.
Findings
Momentum distribution broadens with increasing temperature.
Evidence of phase fluctuations in elongated Bose-Einstein condensates.
Phase coherence length decreases as temperature rises.
Abstract
We report on the measurement of the momentum distribution of an elongated Bose-Einstein condensate. A broadening of the distribution with increasing temperature is observed, which is clear evidence for phase fluctuations in the sample.
