TL;DR
This paper reports the determination of the complete elastic tensor of YNi_2B_2C using resonant ultrasound spectroscopy, providing detailed elastic constants and derived properties like bulk modulus and Debye temperature.
Contribution
The study provides the first comprehensive elastic tensor for YNi_2B_2C using resonant ultrasound spectroscopy, confirming previous partial measurements and enabling calculation of related elastic properties.
Findings
Elastic tensor of YNi_2B_2C determined
Elastic constants agree with previous time-of-flight data
Bulk modulus and Debye temperature calculated from constants
Abstract
The complete elastic tensor of YNi_2B_2C was determined by application of the resonant ultrasound spectroscopy technique to a single-crystal sample. Elastic constants were found to be in good agreement with partial results obtained from `time-of-flight' measurements performed on samples cut from the same ingot. From the measured constants, the bulk modulus and Debye temperature are calculated.
