J. Carlos Egues, Guido Burkard, and Daniel Loss

TL;DR
This paper investigates a two-channel spin transistor where weak spin-orbit coupling induces interband mixing, resulting in an additional spin rotation that enhances spin control in a Datta-Das device.
Contribution
It introduces the concept of interband coupling in a two-channel spin transistor to achieve improved spin manipulation capabilities.
Findings
Weak interband mixing enhances spin control
Additional spin rotation arises from interband coupling
Calculated spin-resolved current shows improved control
Abstract
We consider a two-channel spin transistor with weak spin-orbit induced interband coupling. We show that the coherent transfer of carriers between the coupled channels gives rise to an \textit{additional} spin rotation. We calculate the corresponding spin-resolved current in a Datta-Das geometry and show that a weak interband mixing leads to enhanced spin control.
