Comlex Syntax: Building a Computational Lexicon
Ralph Grishman, Catherine Macleod, and Adam Meyers (Computer Science, Department, New York University)

TL;DR
Comlex Syntax is a computational lexicon for English that provides detailed syntactic information for around 38,000 headwords, addressing error measurement and control in lexicon creation.
Contribution
It introduces the design of Comlex Syntax, a comprehensive syntactic lexicon, and discusses methods for error measurement and management during its development.
Findings
Detailed syntactic information for 38,000 English headwords
Methods for measuring and controlling errors in lexicon creation
Insights into challenges of building large computational lexicons
Abstract
We describe the design of Comlex Syntax, a computational lexicon providing detailed syntactic information for approximately 38,000 English headwords. We consider the types of errors which arise in creating such a lexicon, and how such errors can be measured and controlled.
