TL;DR
This study uses phase cross-correlation tests on WMAP ILC maps and foregrounds, revealing significant deviations from randomness and indicating residual foreground contamination in low multipole ranges.
Contribution
It introduces phase cross-correlation analysis to detect foreground residues in the WMAP ILC map, highlighting a new method for foreground contamination assessment.
Findings
Significant phase deviations from Poissonian statistics.
Detection of foreground residues in low multipole ILC power spectrum.
Foreground contamination affects the ILC map at large scales.
Abstract
We present a circular cross-correlation tests for the phases of the Internal Linear Combination Map (ILC) and {\it WMAP}'s foregrounds for all K--W frequency bands at the range of multipoles . We have found significant deviations from the expected Poissonian statistics for the ILC and the foregrounds phases. Our analysis shows that the low multipole range of the ILC power spectrum contains some of the foregrounds residues.
