## Abstract

to analyze the knowledge of Primary Health Care nurses regarding Forensic Nursing competencies before and after an educational intervention.

a quasi-experimental, before-and-after study was conducted with 12 professionals from the southern region of Minas Gerais between March and August 2023. The intervention was developed using the Problematization Methodology, and knowledge was assessed using an instrument developed by the researchers. The analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and Fisher’s exact test.

an increase in knowledge was observed in categories related to violence, crime, legislation, ethics, mental disorders, and disaster response. The training improved identification and intervention in various forms of violence, although gaps remained in topics such as forensic patient care and evidence preservation.

continuing education is necessary to enhance knowledge in critical areas of Forensic Nursing practice.

analisar o conhecimento dos enfermeiros da Atenção Primária à Saúde sobre competências em Enfermagem Forense antes e após uma intervenção educativa.

estudo quase experimental do tipo antes e depois, realizado com 12 profissionais da região do Sul de Minas Gerais entre março e agosto de 2023. A intervenção foi desenvolvida pela Metodologia da Problematização, e o conhecimento foi avaliado através de um instrumento elaborado pelos pesquisadores. A análise foi realizada por meio de estatística descritiva e o teste exato de Fisher.

observou-se um aumento do conhecimento nas categorias relacionadas à violência, criminalidade, legislação, ética, transtornos mentais e resposta a desastres. A capacitação melhorou a identificação e intervenção em diversas formas de violência, embora ainda tenha havido lacunas em tópicos como assistência a pacientes forenses e preservação de evidências.

a formação continuada é necessária para aprimorar o conhecimento em áreas críticas da prática da Enfermagem Forense.
