TL;DR
This study explores how the 2-1-1 system can better address food insecurity by understanding the experiences and needs of callers seeking food-related help.
Contribution
The study provides novel insights into the specific reasons callers seek food-related assistance through the 2-1-1 system.
Findings
Callers often seek help due to ineligibility for federal assistance programs.
Non-income-related barriers and unexpected life events also drive calls for food support.
Callers suggest improving emergency food systems and informational support to reduce food insecurity.
