TL;DR
This paper reviews mental health risks in siblings of people with anorexia nervosa, highlighting a lack of specific evidence and a need for sex/gender-focused research.
Contribution
The study systematically reviews mental health outcomes in siblings of AN patients with a focus on sex/gender disparities.
Findings
Siblings of individuals with AN show increased internalizing and externalizing symptoms compared to controls.
Few studies include male siblings or focus on clinically diagnosed mental health disorders.
Research is biased and lacks systematic assessment of externalizing symptoms and male participants.
