## TL;DR

This paper presents the first near-complete genome sequence of Mycoplasma meleagridis from a turkey in New Zealand.

## Contribution

The study provides the first genetic characterization of M. meleagridis in New Zealand using long-read sequencing.

## Key findings

- A single circular scaffold of the M. meleagridis genome was assembled.
- This is the first genetic characterization of M. meleagridis in New Zealand.

## Abstract

We report a near-complete genome sequence of Mycoplasma meleagridis isolated from a turkey in New Zealand. Using long-read sequencing approaches, a single circular scaffold was assembled, and then annotated. The genome reported here is the first genetic characterization of M. meleagridis in New Zealand.

## Full-text entities

- **Species:** Meleagris gallopavo (common turkey, species) [taxon 9103], Mycoplasmopsis meleagridis (species) [taxon 29561]
