TL;DR
This paper presents the draft genome of a drug-resistant E. coli strain from Qatar that produces a carbapenemase enzyme, which is a concern for public health.
Contribution
The study reports the first draft genome of an E. coli strain producing the OXA-1207 carbapenemase in Qatar.
Findings
The strain MB2513103 was found to carry the blaOXA-1207 gene.
Genome statistics and resistance mechanisms were predicted for the strain.
The sequence type of the strain was determined.
Abstract
Multidrug-resistant Escherichia coli is considered an urgent public threat, causing sepsis and urinary tract infections. We report the draft genome of a carbapenemase-producing Escherichia coli strain, MB2513103, harboring a blaOXA-1207 gene isolated in Qatar. The genome statistics, along with the sequence type and resistance mechanisms, are predicted.
