## TL;DR

This paper presents the draft genome sequences of two drug-resistant Candida tropicalis isolates from Iraq hospitals.

## Contribution

The study provides new genomic data for two multidrug-resistant C. tropicalis isolates linked to clinical outbreaks.

## Key findings

- Two C. tropicalis isolates from Iraq were found to be multidrug-resistant.
- Draft genome sequences of these isolates were generated.
- The isolates were associated with outbreaks in different hospitals in Karbala province.

## Abstract

Candida tropicalis is an emerging human pathogen associated with oral candidiasis. In the current study, we report the draft genome sequences of two C. tropicalis isolates that were associated with multidrug resistance and outbreaks in different hospitals in Karbala province, Iraq.
