Yan Wei, Xiong Xiao, Xixi Wu, Cong Xie, Tingting Li

TL;DR
Women with endometriosis undergoing ART face higher risks of adverse pregnancy and birth outcomes compared to those without endometriosis.
Contribution
This study provides a comprehensive meta-analysis clarifying the impact of endometriosis on ART outcomes.
Findings
Women with endometriosis had lower clinical pregnancy and live birth rates after ART.
Endometriosis was associated with increased risks of preterm birth, placenta previa, and low birth weight.
Subgroup analyses showed variations in outcomes based on ethnicity, endometriosis stage, and ART mode.
Abstract
With the increasing use of assisted reproductive technology (ART), more women with endometriosis are achieving pregnancy through ART. However, the impact of endometriosis on pregnancy and perinatal outcomes following ART remains controversial. This study aimed to clarify the association between endometriosis and adverse pregnancy and perinatal outcomes through a meta-analysis. A systematic search of PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library was conducted to identify relevant studies published before March 12, 2025. Cohort studies comparing adverse pregnancy and perinatal outcomes between women with and without endometriosis undergoing ART were included. Meta-analysis was performed using STATA 12.0 and R 4.3.2 software to calculate risk ratios (RRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the association between endometriosis and adverse outcomes. Heterogeneity among studies…
