## TL;DR

This paper reviews the historical contributions of Chilean physicians to the study of verruga disease in Peru, noting their work was overlooked for many years.

## Contribution

The novelty lies in highlighting the historical work of Chilean physicians on verruga disease and their delayed impact on national research.

## Key findings

- Chilean physicians published works on verruga disease between 1852 and 1886.
- Their publications did not contribute to contemporary knowledge due to delayed access.
- The study emphasizes the historical significance of these overlooked contributions.

## Abstract

Chilean physicians Nicolas Malo, Francisco Puelma Tupper, Luis Sanfurgo Reyes, and Vicente Izquierdo Sanfuentes published separate articles and theses on verruga disease between 1852 and 1886. However, in light of the facts, these publications made no contribution to the knowledge or national research on verruga disease because they were not accessed until many years after they were published.
