## TL;DR

The paper provides instructions for using the IntelliCage system to study learning behavior in mice.

## Contribution

It introduces a detailed protocol for setting up and using the IntelliCage system for mouse learning experiments.

## Key findings

- The IntelliCage uses RFID to track mouse behavior in a home-cage environment.
- The system allows mice to learn how to access water within the cage.
- Protocols for setup, experiment initiation, and system cleaning are outlined.

## Abstract

The IntelliCage is a home‐cage‐based radiofrequency identification (RFID) test system for studying learning behavior of group‐housed mice. Specifically, the mice must learn where and how to get water within the IntelliCage. The protocol describes how to set up the IntelliCage, how to set up and start a learning experiment, what to consider before starting an experiment, and how to clean the system. © 2026 The Author(s).
