TL;DR
This study finds that adults with diabetes in Romania experience higher psychological distress and lower quality of life compared to healthy individuals.
Contribution
The study quantifies psychological distress and HRQoL differences in Romanian adults with diabetes compared to controls, focusing on an understudied Eastern European population.
Findings
Adults with diabetes had significantly higher anxiety, depressive symptoms, and perceived stress than healthy controls.
Diabetes patients reported significantly lower health-related quality of life compared to controls.
Adjusting for age, sex, and BMI did not change the significant differences observed.
Abstract
Background: Psychological distress is increasingly recognized as an important determinant of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in adults with diabetes mellitus (DM).
