TL;DR
This study examines how different EDTA concentrations affect the effectiveness of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy using curcumin on Streptococcus mutans biofilms.
Contribution
The study identifies the optimal EDTA concentration for enhancing curcumin-based photodynamic therapy against S. mutans biofilms.
Findings
Curcumin with 1% EDTA and blue LED light showed the highest reduction in bacterial viability.
Higher EDTA concentrations (17%) did not significantly improve the photodynamic therapy's effectiveness.
Using 1% EDTA provided results comparable to curcumin alone, suggesting no benefit from higher concentrations.
