TL;DR
This paper examines the shift from a fee-for-service to a bundled payment model in outsourcing eye care in Finland, aiming to improve efficiency and reduce bureaucracy.
Contribution
The study introduces the novel application of bundled payments in ophthalmology and adapts it to national requirements.
Findings
Bundled payments were identified as the most promising model for outsourcing eye care.
The transition required developing a new quality control system and adapting the model to national legislation.
This approach has not been previously applied in ophthalmology, with future data expected to confirm its effectiveness.
