TL;DR
This paper reports the complete genome of a new cereulide-producing Bacillus strain from a different group than previously known.
Contribution
The study identifies a cereulide-producing strain in the previously unreported panC clade 2 and species B. mobilis.
Findings
The strain belongs to the panC clade 2 and is identified as B. mobilis.
It produces cereulide, a toxin previously associated with other Bacillus species.
Abstract
Hitherto, reported cereulide-producing strains of the Bacillus cereus group belonged to the panC clades 3 or 6 and shared the highest average nucleotide identity (ANI) with B. paranthracis or B. mycoides. Here, we report an emetic strain assigned to the panC clade 2 and the ANI species B. mobilis.
