Yuxin Zuo, Jingyi Liang, Zhongqing Chen, Hongbing Hu, Zhenhua Zeng

TL;DR
This study compares how two antibiotics affect platelet levels in ICU patients, finding that contezolid may be safer and more effective than linezolid.
Contribution
The study provides new evidence on the comparative safety and efficacy of contezolid versus linezolid in ICU patients.
Findings
Contezolid was associated with a lower incidence of thrombocytopenia compared to linezolid.
Contezolid showed higher clinical efficacy in ICU patients after adjusting for confounding factors.
Abstract
Linezolid is often associated with the development of thrombocytopenia. Previous studies have demonstrated that contezolid, a novel oxazolidinone, exhibits favorable efficacy in treating infections caused by drug-resistant Gram-positive bacteria. This study aimed to compare the effects of contezolid and linezolid exposure on platelet levels in ICU patients. Figure 1. Patients who received at least 3 days of contezolid or linezolid therapy were included. Logistic regression models were used to compare the incidence of thrombocytopenia, a reduction of greater than 30% from the…
