TL;DR
This study examines the effectiveness and safety of contezolid in treating skin infections in children undergoing hematology treatments.
Contribution
The study provides the first pediatric data on contezolid's efficacy and safety in complicated skin and soft tissue infections.
Findings
Contezolid showed a high clinical cure rate comparable to standard treatments like vancomycin and linezolid.
Contezolid was well-tolerated with no significant treatment-related adverse events observed.
Contezolid demonstrated a potential hematological safety advantage, particularly in platelet count changes.
Abstract
Children undergoing chemotherapy or bone marrow transplantation face a high risk of complicated skin and soft tissue infections, predominantly caused by drug-resistant Gram-positive bacteria. While vancomycin and linezolid are effective treatments, they carry risks of renal damage and bone marrow suppression. Contezolid, a novel oxazolidinone, shows promise in adult infections but lacks pediatric data. This study evaluates the efficacy and safety of oral contezolid in pediatric hematology patients with such infections.Table 1.Baseline Characteristics and Treatment Outcomes.Table 2.Changes in hematological parameters before and after treatment.
