P-556. Mind the Gap: Assessing College Students’ Awareness of Vaccination Status for Mandated Vaccines
Nicole Bradley, Yuman Lee

TL;DR
This study finds that a small but significant portion of college students are unsure or unvaccinated for mandated vaccines, highlighting gaps in vaccine awareness and education.
Contribution
The study identifies a specific gap in college students' awareness of their vaccination status for mandated vaccines in New York State.
Findings
Approximately 13% of students were unvaccinated or unsure about their MMR vaccination status.
Around 11.6% of students were unvaccinated or unsure about their meningococcal meningitis vaccination status.
The study emphasizes the need for improved vaccine education to address public health concerns like vaccine hesitancy and herd immunity.
Abstract
Amidst the measles outbreak, awareness of immunization status against vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) is crucial, especially on college campuses. Per the World Health Organization, herd immunity against the measles requires about 95% of the population to be vaccinated.
