TL;DR
This study surveyed Korean hospitals to assess the status of antimicrobial stewardship programs, finding better infrastructure in participating hospitals but highlighting ongoing challenges.
Contribution
The paper provides a nationwide assessment of ASP implementation in South Korean hospitals, revealing disparities in resources and activities.
Findings
ASP hospitals had higher antibiotic guideline availability and more active stewardship interventions compared to non-ASP hospitals.
Participating hospitals allocated most ASP budgets to personnel costs and clinician incentives.
Non-participation in ASP was mainly due to a lack of dedicated personnel.
