TL;DR
This paper audits an OPAT service in a London hospital in 2024, finding high treatment success and low complication rates.
Contribution
The study provides updated outcome data for OPAT services in a UK teaching hospital, benchmarked against national standards.
Findings
87% of IV antimicrobial patients achieved their treatment aim with 74% without complications.
Only 13% of patients were readmitted, with no Staphylococcus aureus line-infections or deaths.
Complicated oral antimicrobial patients had 86% treatment success and 29% adverse drug reactions.
