Abstract
There is a need for evidence-based interventions to reduce loneliness in family caregivers of patients with dementia. Given the inverse relationship between finding meaning in life and loneliness, interventions to reduce loneliness may be strengthened by incorporating concepts from Meaning-Centered Psychotherapy (MCP), a psychotherapy effective in increasing meaning in life in patients with advanced cancer and their caregivers. The purpose of this presentation is to describe the development and preliminary testing of RELOAD-C (REducing LOneliness in Alzeheimer’s Disease-Caregivers), a web-based platform that delivers concepts from MCP, adapted for caregivers of patients with dementia, via 6 brief videos, 7 virtual peer group meetings, and written content.
