## TL;DR

This paper presents the genome sequence of the seed weevil Oxystoma pomonae, including detailed gene annotations and chromosome scaffolding.

## Contribution

The study provides a high-quality genome assembly and gene annotation for Oxystoma pomonae as part of a broader biodiversity genomics project.

## Key findings

- The genome assembly is 1,174.34 megabases long and includes 11 chromosomal pseudomolecules.
- Gene annotation identified 14,352 protein-coding genes using Ensembl.
- The mitochondrial genome is 18.2 kilobases in length.

## Abstract

We present a genome assembly from an individual female
Oxystoma pomonae (seed weevil; Arthropoda; Insecta; Coleoptera; Apionidae). The genome sequence has a total length of 1 174.34 megabases. Most of the assembly (99.97%) is scaffolded into 11 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the X sex chromosome. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 18.2 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 14 352 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
