## TL;DR

This paper presents the genome sequence of the picture-winged fly Melieria omissa, including chromosomal scaffolds and gene annotations.

## Contribution

The study provides a high-quality genome assembly and gene annotation for Melieria omissa, contributing to the Darwin Tree of Life project.

## Key findings

- The genome assembly is 490.54 megabases long with 97.17% scaffolded into 4 chromosomal pseudomolecules.
- A mitochondrial genome of 15.76 kilobases was assembled.
- Gene annotation identified 21,533 protein-coding genes.

## Abstract

We present a genome assembly from an individual female
Melieria omissa (Arthropoda; Insecta; Diptera; Ulidiidae). The genome sequence has a total length of 490.54 megabases. Most of the assembly (97.17%) is scaffolded into 4 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 15.76 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 21 533 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
