## TL;DR

This paper presents the genome sequence of the Cistus Forester butterfly, including two haplotypes and the mitochondrial genome, as part of a larger project to sequence species in Britain and Ireland.

## Contribution

The paper provides a high-quality reference genome for Adscita geryon, including chromosomal pseudomolecules and sex chromosomes.

## Key findings

- The genome assembly includes two haplotypes with lengths of 764.63 and 670.15 megabases.
- Haplotype 1 is scaffolded into 32 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including W and Z sex chromosomes.
- The mitochondrial genome is 15.32 kilobases long and has been assembled.

## Abstract

We present a genome assembly from an individual female
Adscita geryon (Cistus Forester; Arthropoda; Insecta; Lepidoptera; Zygaenidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 764.63 megabases and 670.15 megabases. Most of haplotype 1 (99.63%) is scaffolded into 32 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the W and Z sex chromosomes. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 15.32 kilobases. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
