Arin Agich, Luca Váradi, Tamás Dóczi

TL;DR
This study examines how basketball fandom in North Macedonia reflects and reinforces ethnic divisions rather than promoting unity.
Contribution
The study provides new qualitative insights into how sports fan identities intersect with ethnic prejudice in post-conflict societies.
Findings
Fan identities are closely tied to ethnic and socio-political narratives, often reinforcing divisions.
Extended intergroup contact does not effectively reduce prejudice due to emotional detachment.
Sports spaces tend to reinforce symbolic boundaries rather than bridge ethnic divides.
