Abstract
Background: In India, the ageing population is expanding steadily, with noticeable regional variations in the proportion of older adults. Although Kerala has high literacy and health indices, gaps in financial and legal readiness persist. As this is a hospital-based pilot study, findings are exploratory and not generalisable. Assessing preparedness for ageing is essential in low- and middle-income countries like India, especially in states with longer life expectancies such as Kerala. Objective: This study aimed to assess the level of mental preparedness for ageing among the elderly population in Kannur, Kerala, and to identify key demographic, health, and financial predictors influencing it.
