## TL;DR

This paper explores how AI chatbots can assist children with type 1 diabetes and their families in managing the condition and learning about it.

## Contribution

The paper evaluates the potential and challenges of using chatbots for diabetes self-management and education in pediatric care.

## Key findings

- AI chatbots can support diabetes self-management and education for patients and families.
- Front-line providers should promote the responsible use of these tools.
- Chatbots offer accessible and evolving support for managing type 1 diabetes.

## Abstract

Diabetes self-management plays a major role in controlling blood sugar levels and avoiding chronic complications. In this report, we investigate the strengths and limitations of artificial intelligence chatbots in supporting patients with type 1 diabetes and their families. With the growing accessibility of these constantly evolving tools, front-line providers must advocate for their responsible use.
