## TL;DR

This paper presents the genome sequence of the Meadow Fritillary butterfly, including two haplotypes and the mitochondrial genome.

## Contribution

The study provides a high-quality genome assembly with detailed haplotype and mitochondrial information for Melitaea parthenoides.

## Key findings

- The genome assembly includes two haplotypes with lengths of 592.15 and 568.40 megabases.
- Haplotype 1 is mostly scaffolded into 31 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the Z sex chromosome.
- The mitochondrial genome is 15.17 kilobases in length.

## Abstract

We present a genome assembly from a female specimen of
Melitaea parthenoides (Meadow Fritillary; Arthropoda; Insecta; Lepidoptera; Nymphalidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 592.15 megabases and 568.40 megabases. Most of haplotype 1 (99.72%) is scaffolded into 31 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the Z sex chromosome. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 15.17 kilobases.
