Laura Mudde, Carmen Schuhmann, Gaby Jacobs

TL;DR
This study explores how Dutch military chaplains help veterans deal with moral injury through long-term counseling and relational presence.
Contribution
It provides longitudinal insights into Dutch military chaplaincy practices and identifies typologies of contact development in moral injury support.
Findings
Dutch military chaplains create a 'moral space' for veterans to explore moral concerns and rebuild self-trust.
Four typologies of contact development were identified in chaplain-veteran interactions.
Breakthrough moments in moral injury support require sustained engagement and attuned care.
