TL;DR
This study explores how sleep quality and stress affect college students' physical activity, finding that both factors are significantly linked to exercise levels.
Contribution
The study identifies stress as a mediator between sleep quality and exercise participation among college students.
Findings
Male students and those who are overweight participate more in medium- and large-scale sports.
Stress and sleep quality are significantly associated with exercise levels, with stress acting as a mediator.
Tailored health education is recommended to improve students' well-being based on these associations.
Abstract
This study examines the relationship between sleep, stress, and exercise among college students, as these factors are significantly associated with their well-being, academic performance, and quality of life. Understanding their interconnections is crucial for promoting healthy behaviors. We used the Physical Activity Rating Scale-3 (PARS-3), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-14), and Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS) to assess physical activity, stress, and sleep quality, respectively. Statistical analyses included multifactorial ANOVA, Spearman’s correlation, mediation analysis, and multiple linear regression using SPSS 27.0. Male students had higher participation in…
