Abstract
Background and objective Healthcare professionals worldwide often encounter gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). With a rising incidence of anxiety and depression in young adults, it is essential to investigate these psychological aspects as potential risk factors for GERD and its exacerbation. Early screening and treatment of anxiety and depression can aid physicians in achieving better symptomatic control and improving overall quality of life. Hence, this study was carried out to determine the frequency of anxiety and depression in young adults with symptoms of GERD. A cross-sectional study was conducted enrolling patients from the Federal Government Polyclinic Hospital, Islamabad, between January 1, 2023, and June 30, 2023.
