## TL;DR

Gingival crevicular blood can be used as an effective diagnostic tool for diabetes mellitus, similar to finger prick blood.

## Contribution

Demonstrates that gingival crevicular blood is a viable alternative to capillary finger prick blood for diabetes screening.

## Key findings

- Gingival crevicular blood shows a strong positive correlation with capillary finger prick blood for diabetes screening.
- The correlation coefficient (r=0.93) indicates high statistical significance (P<0.0001).

## Abstract

Patients with periodontitis are significantly more prone for undetected diabetes mellitus (DM). Gingival crevicular blood (GCB),
which oozes during periodontal examination, can be utilized for screening DM patients. Therefore, it is of interest to compare the
efficacy of GCB with capillary finger prick blood (CFB). A strong positive correlation was observed in CFB and GCB with 'r' values of
0.93 suggestive of highly statistically significant (P<0.0001).
