TL;DR
The study compares how contrastive training and simulation software affect newly graduated nurses' ability to interpret ECGs and make clinical decisions.
Contribution
This study empirically compares the effectiveness of contrastive training versus simulation software in improving ECG interpretation skills in new nurses.
Findings
Contrastive training showed higher immediate improvements in clinical competence and critical thinking compared to simulation software.
Both methods improved skills significantly, but the effects of contrastive training declined more over time.
A longer training program combining both methods is recommended for sustained improvement.
Abstract
Improving the ability of nurses to interpret ECG and diagnose pathological disorders can be effective in preventing the complications of arrhythmias. Therefore, two of the most important indicators of nursing performance among newly graduated nurses for making clinical decisions are clinical competence and critical thinking. Therefore, this study was conducted to compare the effect of contrastive training and simulation software on the level of critical thinking and clinical competence in newly graduated nurses. This quasi-experimental study was conducted in Shahrekord (Iran) to compare the effect of contrastive training and simulation software on the level of critical thinking and clinical competence in newly graduated nurses. A total of 66 newly graduated nurses participated in the study in two intervention and control groups. Inclusion criteria included providing informed consent…
