TL;DR
This study examines how Italian pediatricians manage fever and pain in children, revealing gaps between their practices and clinical guidelines.
Contribution
The study provides new insights into real-world prescribing behaviors of Italian pediatricians for fever and pain management.
Findings
Paracetamol is the most commonly used first-line treatment for fever due to its perceived safety.
Only 63.9% of pediatricians follow correct dosage practices for paracetamol and ibuprofen.
There is significant variation in the use of alternating therapies for fever management.
