TL;DR
This study explores Portuguese veterinarians' knowledge and interest in stem-cell therapies for companion animals, highlighting gaps and growing professional interest.
Contribution
The study provides new insights into veterinary practitioners' awareness and perceptions of stem-cell therapies in Portugal.
Findings
Most veterinarians know what mesenchymal stromal cells are but lack knowledge about their application in veterinary pathologies.
A significant proportion are unaware of the immunogenic effects of stem cells but recognize their immunomodulatory potential.
Veterinarians show high interest in learning more about stem-cell therapies, indicating a need for education and regulation.
