Audit of Renal Function Monitoring and Indications in Patients Prescribed Memantine at Ribchester Centre: A Review of Compliance With Pre-Prescription Guidelines
Laiba Khalid, Akash Kumar

TL;DR
This audit reviewed if memantine prescriptions at Ribchester Centre followed NICE guidelines for renal function checks and proper indications.
Contribution
The study evaluates real-world compliance with NICE guidelines for memantine use in dementia patients.
Findings
Only 3 out of 12 prescriptions had documented diagnostic indications aligned with NICE guidelines.
All patients had eGFR and RFT documented in GM records, but 7 lacked clear documentation in correspondence.
Memantine was appropriately used as adjunct therapy in two cases and for severe Alzheimer’s in one case.
