A Closed Loop Audit of DEXA Scan Compliance in a Tier 4 Specialist Eating Disorder Unit
Chisom Madu

TL;DR
This audit evaluated how well a specialist eating disorder unit followed guidelines for DEXA scans and improved care through targeted recommendations.
Contribution
A closed-loop audit framework was applied to improve DEXA scan compliance in eating disorder care.
Findings
Initial compliance with DEXA scan guidelines was low, with only 30% of eligible patients receiving scans.
After implementing recommendations, scan compliance increased to 62.5%, and professional interpretation rose to 80%.
Patient education documentation improved from 50% to 80%, but gaps in hormonal treatment and scan utility documentation remained.
